We are thankful to have many young families in our congregation and welcome all children to join in the ministries of James Island Presbyterian. The nursery is staffed by a combination of employees and volunteers. All of our volunteers and staff have completed the requirements of our Child Protection Policy, including a background check.
We have up to four age groups on Sunday mornings, each meeting in its own room: infants, toddlers, 3’s and 4’s, and K5-1st Grade. Families can choose to bring their children straight to the nursery prior to worship or have them join the nursery following Children’s Time. In addition to Sunday mornings, childcare is available at all congregational events and can be provided for special meetings and events with two weeks’ notice.
For more information about our nursery policies, see our Nursery Handbook or contact the church office. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me!” At the JIPC nursery, our goal is to provide a loving and safe environment for parents to help their children grow to know the Lord.
In addition to providing a nurturing environment in our church nursery, James Island Presbyterian seeks to teach our youngest members about God’s love from a very early age. Preschool Ministries offer children an opportunity to be introduced to worship and Bible stories through Pray and Play, Sunday School and Cherub Choir.
Pray and Play
During the Wednesday Night Live semesters, children ages 3-5K are invited to join “Pray and Play” following WNL dinners. Each week, children will gather from 6:30-7:30 to learn a short lesson and enjoy games and crafts while their families are engaged in PYC or adult courses.
We have two preschool Sunday School classes: 2’s & 3’s and 4’s & 5’s. Each class meets downstairs in the Christian Education Building at 10:00 a.m. and is led by a team of dedicated volunteer teachers. Children are introduced to the Bible and learn about who God is and God’s love for them. In addition, they form friendships that can last a lifetime as they all grow in faith together.
