What to Expect

We hope you will join us for worship at James Island Presbyterian Church.

Each Sunday morning, we offer two identical worship services at 8:30 and 11:00 a.m. Instead of designing worship around a particular style or theme, our service is centered on God’s Word. The sermon, prayers, liturgy and music focus on the same Scripture passage to help us make listening to God our first priority in worship. Within our traditional worship service, you will find music from long ago along with contemporary pieces. There is time for corporate and private prayer, singing hymns and listening to anthems, as well as the opportunity to contemplate ways to respond to God’s Word as you go in the world.

Within our congregation, you will find folks of many different ages and styles. Some don their “Sunday Best” in a suit and tie or dress while others prefer the “nice casual” look. Children are always welcome to join you in worship or to enjoy time in the church nursery. We have worship bags available for children to keep their attention as they remain in the sanctuary with you when you are ready. Our ushers will help you feel at home and are available to answer any questions you might have. Contact the church office if you have any questions about joining us for worship, coffee fellowship, Sunday School, Wednesday Night Live or any of our special events and services.
