The final aspect of ministry at James Island is care for the gifts that God has given to us, with special emphasis on our beautiful facilities. This care involves both financial gifts and commitment of time and talent.

The main thrust of our financial commitment is our annual budget. While members are not obligated to make a pledge, we endeavor to show that God's blessings of material things ought, in some way, encourage us to return a portion to Him. Stewardship, thus, includes our annual campaign to raise money for the operation of the church.

However, there are long term considerations to be made for the stewardship of resources as well. These involve a Trust Fund. Our church, under the auspices of the Board of Trustees, has established a fund, the interest from which is to be used in perpetuity by the church. The proceeds from this fund go each year to pay for special events and activities. They are not a part of the budget but rather an enhancement.

We also encourage members with special talents to become involved in the maintenance of our property. While we employ professionals for upkeep of our facilities and grounds, there are many tasks which members find rewarding. If this is an area that interests you, we encourage you to volunteer your time and talent.

CHURCH equals PEOPLE

Presbyterians are fond of saying that while we have one preacher, all of our members are ministers. And in truth, for a church to function requires the work of all its people. We have an exceptional professional staff at our church. But also we are proud of our lay leadership from our Session and Board of Trustees. But even their efforts are not enough. We need each of you. As you look over our information, ask yourself, "What can I do to make James Island Presbyterian more effective in serving Jesus Christ?" When you have the answer, then join with us in worship, nurture, mission, and stewardship!
